Harnessing the expertise of the Earth Institute's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, a world leader in earth sciences, Columbia University’s Master of Science in Sustainability Science develops the skills of full-time and aspiring sustainability professionals in Earth systems observation, analysis, projection, and environmental remediation.
The program focuses on the scientific methods and tools that can be used to observe, monitor, and respond to environmental impacts, enabling a practical application of science to address the critical sustainability issues of our time.
Students are early- and mid-career professionals, with backgrounds in engineering, math, science, and related fields who want to help organizations better understand and address environmental impacts and the systemic risks that arise from environmental change.
