Photo Submission For Student Directories

The University ID card is your passport to Columbia. Your ID card grants you access to the library, secure campus locations, allows you to purchase services at campus cafes and the University bookstore, and enables you to conduct other business at the University and the Law School.

In order to receive your ID card upon arrival to campus at Orientation, you must electronically submit a photograph to Columbia University.

To submit a photo, first make sure you have activated your UNI, then log into the secure site to submit your ID photo

To submit your photo, please visit the Online Photo Submission Service.

In addition to your University ID card, your photograph will be used by professors to prepare classroom seating charts and for other official Law School purposes, including the Student Facebook and the secure online student directory.

ID Card Photo Requirements for New Students

To get your Columbia University ID card, you're required to submit a photo online. The photo should be a passport-style photo and meet the following requirements:

  • The photo should be a color, JPEG file
  • The background should be uniform and light in color
  • You must be facing forward, with your head and shoulders clearly visible
  • No photos with sunglasses or hats will be accepted
  • The file cannot exceed 100k in size

Current Students Can Also Update Their Photos Online

If you are returning student and would like to update your photo, then no problem. Returning students can upload a new photo. Simply submit a new professional photo via the Online Photo Submission Service and you'll be all set. Detailed information about the photo submission process can be found by visiting Student ID page.
