The STAR Program offers Columbia Law School administrative staff a way to acknowledge and express appreciation for co-workers who make a difference in their everyday work life.

These are the recipients of the Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Program for the Fall 2018. In addition to being recognized at our Law School staff luncheon, recipients will receive $2,000 and a crystal STAR award as a signal of the school’s appreciation.

In her current role, Karen interacts with a wide range of Law School faculty and staff on a daily basis. Her nominators describe her as a “wonderful colleague” and “very helpful”. She is recognized for her exceptional ability to prioritize responsibilities, solve problems, manage stressful situations, and display an acute attention to detail, all while maintaining a very positive and helpful attitude.

Martin’s role is central to the Law School’s information technology and security operations. He was nominated for his consistent professionalism, solutions-oriented approach, and extensive technical knowledge. He was described as often having to wear “many hats”, “leading by example”, inspiring his team members to emulate his loyalty to Columbia Law School, and his commitment to professional growth.

Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI)

Nancy has supported the growth of CCSI into a leading hub of research and training. She was nominated for her superb organizational skills, tireless advocacy on the Center’s behalf, and ability to solve problems with creativity. Nancy is a frequent volunteer at Law School events, ensuring that participants are greeted with “cheer and collegiality”. Nancy has built strong connections with her colleagues and is recognized for her commitment to the Law School and for the quality of her work.
