Technology We Support 


The IT teams are trained to support specific digital services, systems, and technology at the Law School, including: 

  • Audio-visual and classroom technology
  • Class email lists
  • Computer-Based Training and New Student Guide
  • CourseWorks
  • G and H drives and remote access
  • Computers and software at the Law School
  • Internet access
  • Law School email addresses (e.g., [email protected])
  • Website properties
  • LawNet – Law School directory, course registration, add/drop, grades, course evaluations, registration for wireless and Ethernet cards
  • Networks – open and secure wireless, and secure wired, Ethernet
  • Printers and scanners
  • Purchase of computers, peripherals, and software
  • Training, tutorials, and guides

New User Next Steps

When you begin your affiliation with Columbia Law School, you will be assigned two accounts—a UNI and a LawNet. A UNI account is used to access University-wide systems and services, while a LawNet account is used to access Law School-specific services. Please activate your UNI account by visiting: http://cuit.columbia.edu/cuit/manage-my-uni

Activating your UNI will also activate your Law School email account (aka, LionMail). LionMail is the email component of Columbia University’s Google Apps for Education. As a result, you will also have access to some of the other Google Apps you may be familiar with—Calendar and Drive. Please sign into LionMail, using your UNI and associated password: http://lionmail.columbia.edu

LawNet is a set of web-based services that provides interactive access to the Columbia Law School administrative databases. Through LawNet, you can view your class list, access directories of students, faculty, and staff; submit and review grades; activate, view, and lock in classroom seating charts; view and print course evaluations; and more. To access LawNet, please visit: http://www.law.columbia.edu/lawnet

All instructors are provided with a course website on the University CourseWorks system. Each CourseWorks site is equipped with a standard Law School template which allows you to post articles and assignments, as well as a class mailing list, which allows you to email all registered and waitlisted students with a single post. CourseWorks can be accessed at http://courseworks.columbia.edu by using your UNI and associated password (not your LawNet ID).
